About Us

Paula Shoyer is a pastry chef, who owns and operates Paula’s Parisian Pastries Cooking School in Chevy Chase, Maryland.  She teaches classes in French pastry and Jewish cooking to adults and kids.  She does cooking demonstrations before large groups several times a year. 

She received her pastry diploma from the Ritz Escoffier Ecole de Gastronomie Francaise in Paris, France in 1996.  She operated a dessert catering business in Geneva, Switzerland for 2 years.  She is the editor of two popular Kosher cookbooks: Kosher by Design Entertains and Kosher by Design Kids in the Kitchen.  She is currently writing her own cookbook on non-dairy desserts.  

Paula's classes were featured in an article by the internet newsletter, Daily Candy, Washington edition.  In March 2007 Paula Shoyer was a guest on the radio show, 'Walking on Air with Betsy and Sal', broadcast in Chicago, where she discussed easy, elegant desserts and baking tips. 

In August, Paula Shoyer was the subject of an article in the Massachusetts Jewish Ledger about teaching cooking to special needs kids in summer camp.  In July, Paula served as host and judge of a Kosher Iron Chef cooking competition at a synagogue in Washington, DC, covered by the Washington Jewish Week.  In February, she appeared on a talk show broadcast on Maryland cable TV where she demonstrated how to make chocolate babka.  In December 2007, Paula’s classes were featured in a Washington Post Express article about giving people gifts that are experiences rather than things.
